When you wish to install a half-court basketball court in your basement under your three car garage, you may need some structural engineering support. CVL Engineers Inc. was retained by Habitat Studios to provide structural and geotechnical engineering services for the design of this custom home in Edmonton, AB. With an extensive basement development, a geotechnical report was required to assertain the ground conditions at depth for design of a raft slab, as well as the accompanying shoring. Design was focused on ensuring efficiency, and the use of precast holocore slabs was perfect for construction of the basement roof/garage and yard level.

This project posed numerous challenges in order to develop the best solution for the clients desire. Construction is ongoing with completion planned for 2021.
