Project

Drayton Valley Pedestrian Bridge

CVL Engineers Inc. was retained by Willows Construction to provide the structural design for three new pedestrian bridges in the Town of Drayton Valley. In addition to the need for sturdy, resilient bridges, the town was seeking a solution that would complement the natural setting.

To achieve these goals, CVL Engineers Inc. created a detailed design of rolled steel truss bridges. We incorporated a timber deck and steel handrail to allow the structure to blend into the nearby surroundings.

To maintain structural integrity, the design was completed to the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code, along with the Town of Drayton Valley requirements. Loading information provided by the town was used to determine the loading requirements for the bridge to ensure that all equipment could cross safely.

CVL Engineers Inc. was also contracted for connection detail designs for the steel trusses for these three bridges. Additionally, our engineering team completed shop drawings for the precast concrete abutment caps for the structures.
